Itinerary Program:
We will greet you warmly upon your arrival at Marrakech Menara Airport and escort you directly to your luxury boutique riad in the heart of the medina. We will make sure you settle in comfortably after your flight and enjoy a complimentary pot of fresh Moroccan mint tea on the serene rooftop terrace. In the late afternoon, we will take a gentle orientation stroll through the surrounding traditional alleyways to give your family a comfortable first taste of the city’s lively rhythm. As darkness falls, we will gather at a charming local restaurant for a delicious welcome dinner featuring authentic tagines and pastries. We will spend our first restful evening in a quiet, high-end medina riad.
We will spend our second day uncovering the remarkable history and architectural treasures of Marrakech with an expert local private guide. We will explore the intricate tilework and courtyards of the 16th-century Bahia Palace, admire the majestic Koutoubia Mosque minaret, and step inside the historic Saadian Tombs. During the afternoon, we will wander through the vibrant artisan souks where master craftsmen hand-make leather goods, brass lanterns, and colorful spices. Later on, we will visit the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa square to witness the captivating evening street performers and musicians. We will return to our peaceful riad for a relaxing night.
We will depart Marrakech early after breakfast and journey into the dramatic High Atlas Mountains via the famous Tizi n’Tichka mountain pass. We will pause at breathtaking mountain viewpoints to capture panoramic photos of traditional Berber mudbrick villages perched along the hillsides. Next, we will enjoy a guided tour of the iconic UNESCO World Heritage site of Kasbah Aït Benhaddou, famously featured in movies like Gladiator. We will then continue past the Hollywood film studios of Ouarzazate and drive through the fragrant Valley of Roses into the Dades Gorge. We will check into an elegant kasbah hotel nestled in the valley for dinner.
We will start our day with a morning drive toward the towering limestone canyon walls of Todra Gorge, where sheer cliff faces rise 300 meters above a rushing stream. We will take a peaceful walk along the riverbank through the cool gorge canyon before continuing our journey south toward the Sahara. As we reach the edge of the golden Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga, we will mount gentle camels for an unforgettable sunset trek across the desert. Alternatively, families can choose a comfortable 4×4 transport that takes them directly to our luxury desert camp. We will spend an incredible evening dining under starry skies accompanied by traditional Berber music around a campfire.
We will wake early to witness a breathtaking Saharan sunrise over the vast golden dunes before enjoying a hot, freshly prepared camp breakfast. We will spend the full morning exploring the desert region in our private 4×4, visiting a local nomadic family in their traditional woven tent to share tea. Afterward, we will visit the desert village of Khamlia to listen to soul-stirring live spiritual music performed by traditional Gnawa musicians. Children and adults alike can try sandboarding down the high dunes or simply swim in a resort pool overlooking the sand sea. We will spend a relaxing night in a luxury kasbah hotel on the dune edge.
We will bid farewell to the desert and drive north through the dramatic palm-filled Ziz Valley, stopping to take in views of the vast green oasis below. We will travel up through the Middle Atlas Mountains and pause in the cool cedar forests near Azrou, where wild Barbary macaque monkeys live in the trees. Next, we will stop briefly in Ifrane, a charming mountain city known as the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine chalets and clean parks. By late afternoon, we will arrive at the ancient city of Fes, the intellectual and spiritual capital of Morocco. We will check into a beautifully restored luxury palace riad inside the medina.
We will spend today exploring the medieval labyrinth of Fes el-Bali alongside a knowledgeable private local historian. We will admire the gold-plated doors of the Royal Palace, walk through the historic Mellah Jewish Quarter, and visit the iconic 9th-century Al-Qarawiyyin University. We will watch traditional leatherworkers at the ancient Chouara Tanneries from panoramic viewing balconies and observe delicate mosaic artisans at work. The rich sights, smells of exotic spices, and ancient architecture will create an educational adventure that fascinates every member of the family. We will return to our riad in the late afternoon for a relaxing evening.
We will enjoy a leisurely breakfast before taking a scenic morning drive northwest through the rolling green hills and olive groves of the Rif Mountains. By early afternoon, we will arrive at the magical mountain town of Chefchaouen, famous worldwide for its enchanting blue-painted buildings. We will spend the afternoon strolling through its peaceful, pedestrian-only streets, taking photos, and relaxing at outdoor cafes around Outa el-Hammam square. The relaxed pace and small size of Chefchaouen make it one of the most enjoyable destinations for families and leisure travelers. We will spend our evening at a charming boutique mountain riad.
We will depart the blue mountains after breakfast and travel down toward Morocco’s Atlantic coast to visit Rabat, the official modern capital. In Rabat, we will explore the majestic Hassan Tower, the royal Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the whitewashed Kasbah of the Udayas. We will then drive along the coastal highway to Casablanca to visit the stunning Hassan II Mosque, built directly over the Atlantic Ocean waves. We will admire its intricate marble craftsmanship and tall minaret before enjoying a fine oceanfront dinner along the Corniche. We will spend our final night at a luxury seafront hotel in Casablanca.
We will enjoy a relaxed breakfast on our final morning before transferring in private comfort back to Marrakech or directly to Casablanca Mohammed V Airport. We will schedule our departure driving times around your flight details to ensure you reach the airport effortlessly with plenty of time for check-in.
