The best time to visit is spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November). During these seasons, the weather is mild and perfect for exploring the town’s blue streets and surrounding mountains. Summers can be hot, and winters can be chilly in the mountains, but the town is beautiful year-round.

Must-see attractions include the blue-painted streets of the medina, Kasbah Museum, Outa El Hammam square, and Ras El Ma waterfall. Don’t miss the local souks for handicrafts, carpets, and souvenirs. Every corner of Chefchaouen is picturesque and perfect for photography.

An overnight stay is highly recommended. Staying overnight allows you to experience Chefchaouen at its most magical, early morning when the blue alleys are empty and peaceful, and in the evening when day-trippers have left. Hiring a local guide can make your visit more enjoyable. A guide will share history, culture, and hidden spots that you might miss on your own. However, the town is small, so self-guided tours are also possible if you prefer a relaxed pace.

  • Group tours are cheaper but less flexible.
  • Private tours offer more comfort and stops at your own pace.

For a 2-day experience with personalized attention, a private tour is often more relaxed and enjoyable

The easiest way is by private car or guided tour, which takes about 3.5–4 hours.

The early morning (before 8 am) is the best time to explore Chefchaouen when the blue alleys are empty, and the light is dramatic for photography. Late afternoon and sunset are also magical, especially from the Spanish Mosque viewpoint
