Itinerary Program:
We will meet you at the Marrakech Menara Airport with a warm welcome and transfer your family directly to your comfortable riad in the medina. After you settle into your rooms and refresh, we will take a gentle evening walk to the famous Jemaa el-Fna square to experience the magical atmosphere of storytellers and street performers. We will enjoy a delicious Moroccan welcome dinner together on a panoramic rooftop terrace while watching the sunset over the Koutoubia Mosque. Afterwards, we will return to our riad for a peaceful night of rest so everyone is well-rested for the exciting journey ahead.
We will meet our expert local guide after breakfast to begin an engaging half-day walking tour tailored specifically for parents and children. We will visit the colorful Bahia Palace with its courtyard mosaics, admire the historic Saadian Tombs, and stroll through the aromatic spice souks. In the afternoon, we will escape the city noise with a relaxing horse-drawn carriage ride to the lush Jardin Majorelle gardens. We will end our day with an interactive Moroccan cooking workshop where adults and kids can learn to make fresh flatbread and tasty tagines.
We will depart Marrakech early in the morning and drive into the towering High Atlas Mountains via the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass. We will stop along the mountain’s winding roads to take photos of dramatic valleys and traditional stone-built Berber villages. By midday, we will reach the ancient UNESCO World Heritage site of Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, where movie scenes like Gladiator were filmed. We will explore the fortified mud-brick towers with a local guide before continuing our drive to Ouarzazate for dinner and an overnight stay in a charming hotel.
We will begin our day with a visit to the Atlas Film Studios in Ouarzazate, where children can see giant film sets and old props. Next, we will travel along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, driving through the peaceful Skoura palm groves and the fragrant Valley of Roses. We will stop in the dramatic Dades Gorge to admire unusual rock formations before heading directly toward the massive cliffs of Todra Gorges. We will take a relaxing family walk along the cool riverbed surrounded by towering red canyon walls, followed by dinner and a cozy overnight stay.
We will drive eastward toward the Sahara Desert, stopping in the desert town of Erfoud to visit a hands-on fossil workshop that kids always love. We will continue across changing palm landscapes until the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi appear on the horizon near Merzouga. Here, we will trade our vehicle for gentle camels and trek across the glowing dunes as the afternoon sun casts long shadows. We will arrive at our private desert camp in time for a traditional dinner, live Berber drum music around the campfire, and stargazing.
We will wake up early to watch a breathtaking sunrise over the dunes before enjoying a hot, freshly prepared desert breakfast. We will spend the day exploring the desert in a comfortable 4×4 vehicle, visiting a family of desert nomads to learn about their daily lives. Next, we will travel to Khamlia village to enjoy energetic spiritual music played by local Gnawa musicians. In the afternoon, we will try sandboarding down the dunes or simply relax at our hotel pool near the edge of the desert dunes.
We will bid farewell to the dunes after breakfast and begin our return journey westward through scenic southern desert landscapes. We will travel through Rissani and Alnif before reaching the magnificent Draa Valley, home to Morocco’s longest palm-filled river oasis. We will stop at historic riverside kasbahs in Agdz to stretch our legs and take panoramic family photos over millions of date palms. Later in the afternoon, we will arrive back in Ouarzazate, where we will check into our peaceful riad for a relaxing dinner and overnight rest.
We will take an alternative scenic route across the High Atlas Mountains today, starting with a visit to the historic Kasbah Telouet. We will marvel at the hidden marble rooms and carved cedar ceilings inside this magnificent former palace hidden in the mountains. We will stop for a traditional lunch at a local Berber mountain home, giving your family a heartwarming look into local mountain hospitality. We will then drive back down into Marrakech by late afternoon, checking into our comfortable medina hotel for a final farewell dinner.
We will spend our final morning enjoying a relaxed breakfast and picking up last-minute handmade souvenirs in the peaceful morning souks. We will help you select authentic brass lanterns, leather goods, or argan oil products directly from skilled artisan workshops. Depending on your flight schedule, we will provide a private transfer to Marrakech Menara Airport for your flight home. We will ensure you arrive with plenty of time to spare, leaving Morocco with unforgettable family memories.
